Ashraf Affan, M.D. / Medical Director

After finishing his residency training at Nassau University Medical Center, Dr. Affan served for one year as Chief Resident. During his residency training, Dr. Affan received the 2001 Beth Seaton Award for the best resident of the year. During his medical education, he was an active member and student leader of the International Federation of Medical Students Association (IFMSA). He worked as a consultant for many international projects aiming at the welfare of children around the globe and gained first-hand knowledge of just about every disease and condition that newborns, children and adolescents may face. “I saw the global ‘big picture’ of the need for pediatricians to be involved not only with the child, but also with the child’s immediate family and extended family—the community.  I learned that you must do more than treat ill and undernourished children—you must educate the parents and the community to instill in them the idea of preventative care.”

 

Katherine Byra, M.D.

Dr. Byra is a native of Florida, but relatively new to the Jacksonville area. She grew up in Tampa and studied at the University of Miami, where she received her BA degree, majoring in science. Dr. Byra attended medical school at the University of South Florida and stayed there for her residency in Pediatrics. She later graduated from the USF Pediatrics program and successfully passed her board exams.  Dr. Byra met her husband in medical school, and they moved here together in July of 2013 after he accepted a position as a radiologist at St. Vincent’s in Jacksonville. Dr. Byra loves being a Pediatrician being able to keep children healthy as she watches them grow up.

 

 

 

Dr. Jill Driest, Ph.D.

Dr. Jill Driest received her Master's and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, she is a licensed psychologist in Florida. She completed an APA-accredited internship with Nationwide Children's Hospital and a Post-Doctoral fellowship with Greenville Children's Hospital. She previously worked as the Director of a mental health department and has now opened her own private practice in Jacksonville. Dr. Driest is passionate about working with children, adolescents, and their families.

 

 

 

G. Ghata, M.D.

Dr. Ghata is a Board Certified Pediatrician with over 35 years of experience in the care of children and newborns. Dr. Ghata has been a resident of Jacksonville, Florida since 1974 and at the University of Florida. Dr. Ghata’s goal is for all of his patients to be treated with respect, compassion and sympathy, and to apply his medical knowledge and experience to serve everyone in a professional and caring environment.

 

 

 

 

 

Nooshazar Khalvati, M.D., FAAP

Dr. Khalvati is a Board Certified Pediatrician who graduated from the University of Florida Shands Jacksonville.  After her Pediatric residency, Dr. Khalvati had two years of fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology.  She has worked in private practice of Pediatrics in Jacksonville since 1985.  Most of Dr. Khalvati’s patients have been seeing her since they were born and continue through high school graduation.  “I like to take time with my patients.  It is very important in caring for them and treating them, in communicating with them and with the education of their parents.  I am interested in taking care of newborns and children of all ages and helping them to stay healthy and active throughout their childhood and adolescent life.”

 

 

Rachna Krish, M.D.

Dr. Krish is a Jacksonville native. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology at the University of Florida and later received her medical degree at St. George’s University.  She went on to complete her residency training in Pediatrics at UMDNJ in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Krish moved back to Jacksonville with her husband and two daughters to raise them near the rest of her family. Her husband is a local Nephrologist with a private group clinic for kidney disease. She loves working with children and getting to know the families of each patient on a personal level, and enjoys watching her patients grown into beautiful, healthy, and amazing little adults!

Paul Leadem, M.D.

Dr. Paul Leadem is an experienced, board certified Pediatrician who has practiced in North Florida for 12 years. He attended Pennsylvania State University and completed his Pediatric Training at one of the premier Children's Hospitals in the nation, Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. His special areas of interest include asthma and ADHD, in addition to General Pediatrics.  Dr. Leadem has four children and five grandchildren.

 

 

 

 

Victoria Mosteller, M.D.

 

Vicki-Mosteller-MDDr. Mosteller is a Florida native who grew up in Miami. She attended the University of Miami where she received both her undergraduate Degree as well as her Medical Degree. After graduation, Dr. Mosteller moved to Washington, D.C., where she completed her residency at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Mosteller has been a member of the American Board of Pediatrics since 1991. She loves working with children and their families and helping them learn the importance of a healthy lifestyle. In her spare time, Dr. Mosteller enjoys outdoor activities, maintaining a healthy lifestyle by working out at the gym and staying active.

 

 

 

Tammy Tran, M.D.

Tammy Tran, MD, FAAP, is a board certified pediatrician. Dr. Tran attended the University of Minnesota, and graduated from medical school, also from the University of Minnesota, in 2000. She then completed her residency in Pediatrics at UT Southwestern, Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Dr. Tran is board certified in Pediatric and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

After residency Dr Tran joined the University of Minnesota physician and worked at the Community University Health Center. In 2005 Dr. Tran moved to Jacksonville for her husband’s training in radiology at the University of Florida and fell in love with the First Coast. Dr. Tran loves to travel and has been to 4 continents and 20 countries. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach with her children and exploring nature parks.

Dr Tran is passionate about providing quality healthcare to children with a holistic approach. Her goal is to provide an interdisplinary approach with a complete evaluation of the child’s physical, emotional, behavioral and developmental health..

 

 

Teresa Valdes, M.D.

 

Valdes2016Dr. Valdes is a native of Holguin, Cuba, who moved to Los Angeles, California as a young girl.  After attending a University in California majoring in Medical Microbiology, Dr. Valdes attended medical school in the Dominican Republic and completed her residency at Michigan State affiliated hospitals.  She is Board Certified AAP by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

 

 

 

 

Jami Webster, M.D.

Dr. Webster grew up in Oklahoma and graduated Suma Cum Laude from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with degrees in Chemistry and Medical Biology. She served in the University of Oklahoma’s Department of Microbiology as a researcher for one year, then attended the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. There she was a member of the Dean's Advisory Council and Senator Boren's President's Advisory Board. After graduation, she was a pediatric Intern and Resident at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Following completion of residency, she began practice in pediatric primary care in Salt Lake City in 2000, then moved to Jacksonville in 2007.Dr. Webster’s goal is to get to know each family in  order to better provide individualized care. She says, "It's my job to educate families so their children can grow up happier and healthier. I want children with healthy minds and bodies. Teaching families to balance work, play, diet and exercise is essential to this goal.

 

 

Nurse Practitioners

 

Camille Gorden, ARNP

 

Camille

Camille has lived in many different places, but she considers Florida her home. She attended the University of Florida where she obtained a BSN in nursing in 2007. Camille later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and received her MSN from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008. She spent years working as a floor nurse in the areas of cardiology and hematology/oncology in multiple locations before becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Children have been a passion of Camille’s since she was in high school. She enjoys helping children grow up to build healthy habits, including fitness and healthy eating habits.  She is constantly amazed at children’s resilience to overcome illnesses. She has enjoyed watching families grow over the years in the same practice and looks forward to seeing children HEALTHY for their annual school check-ups. Camille has been working with Angel Kids since 2010.

Jordan Magiera, ARNP

Jordan grew up in Jacksonville and attended the University of Florida, where she graduated with her BSN in 2008. She received her MSN from the University of Florida in 2009 and has been working as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner ever since. She has always had a passion for children and loves watching them grow into beautiful, happy, and healthy adults.  Jordan has been a member of the Angel Kids Pediatrics family since March of 2015.  She and her husband welcomed a baby boy in December 2013, and she is enjoying her new role as mom!  Jordan enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and cheering on the Florida Gators!

 

 

Jelisse Marrero, ARNP

Jelisse is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a sub-specialization in Emergency Medicine. Jelisse did her undergraduate studies at the University of North Florida and worked in the emergency department for 8 years until completing her Advanced Practice degree from Jacksonville University.  Jelisse has lived in Jacksonville Beach for most of her life, but spent a short time in New York working at a large community hospital in the South Bronx. She has been a volunteer with the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps for over 15 years in Jacksonville Beach and was their first female lifeguard captain in over 100 years of volunteer service. She spent many years working with Lifeguards without Boarders bringing supplies and educating people about water safety, first aid, and lifeguarding techniques in various countries including the Dominican Republic and Peru.

She attended PA school at Nova Southeastern University here in Jacksonville where she received her Masters of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies. “I couldn’t imagine working in any other field but Pediatrics! My favorite thing about working in Pediatrics is developing trusting relationships with families and seeing the joy children bring to the world.”

 

 

 

 

 

Blayne Frisbie, PA-C

 

JG2 0714-2Blayne is a Jacksonville native and graduated with a degree in Exercise Science from University of North Florida in 2012. Prior to PA school, she worked in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. Blayne attended Barry University in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands where she earned her Masters in Clinical Medical Sciences with a focus in Physician Assistant studies, while enjoying paradise. She has always had a love for working with children, and while on her pediatrics rotation during PA school it was affirmed she wanted to work with the sweet, , loving, germ-sharing tiny humans. Blayne’s desire is to be able to help children grow to become the smartest, healthiest, and kindest versions of themselves and to know that “Everyone is special in their own way!”

Lindsay A. Pannell, RN, CLC certified

 

blank“Lindsay received her LPN license in 2010 through Fortis College and began her career in pediatric nursing. She graduated from FSCJ in December of 2016 with her associates degree in Nursing. She has a great passion for community health and nutrition and looks forward to becoming a Lactation consultant later this year. She keeps busy with her 4 wonderful children, ages 15, 12, 11 and 10. In her spare time she enjoys attending their sporting events, camping, singing and baking.”

 

 

 

 

Marlena Sorell,
Certified Lactation Counselor

 

marlee-12716Marlena graduated from the University of North Florida in 2015 with a bachelors degree in Community Health. Marlena became interested in lactation counseling in 2013 when her nephew was born. Marlena saw the struggles that her sister had with breastfeeding and the lack of education that she received in the hospital. In 2016 Marlena became a Certified Lactation Counselor so she could help first-time nursing mothers work through the same struggles that her sister had. Marlena also enjoys lactation counseling because it gives her an opportunity to utilize her background in health education and health coaching, all while serving mothers who want to provide the best nourishment possible for their little ones.

 

 

Amaris Valentin,

ameris-2Amaris grew up in Puerto Rico, where she graduated from Universidad Technologica de Puerto Rico with her nursing degree in 2011. Shortly after graduating, Amaris moved to the United States. “I love taking care of people! The medical field has never-ending limits that foster my education. I became a CLC so I could further help children and parents.”
