Cytomegalovirus

Cytomegalovirus is a viral infection that is common in children ages one to three. Symptoms are often mild to none in children. This virus is spread through direct person-to-person contact with infected secretions and urine, passed from mother to infant before, during and after birth, and also through blood transfusions from someone who is infected. Proper hand washing is the best way to prevent the cytomegalovirus. Children are able to still participate in group settings.
