Meet Meet Carol Sellwood, FNP, APRN

Greetings! I'm Carol Sellwood, a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) designation. Currently, I am based in the Central location and am proud to be serving as a full-time pediatric care practitioner.

Professional Journey:
My journey in healthcare began with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) from James Madison University in Virginia. Subsequently, I honed my skills as a registered nurse in the operating room, specializing in pediatric general surgery and ENT teams at the University of Virginia. Additionally, I worked with breast oncology surgery, pediatric general surgery, plastic, and ENT surgery at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Driven by a passion for pediatric care, I pursued a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) at James Madison University. Post-graduation, I relocated to Jacksonville to be closer to family and embarked on my career in pediatric primary care.

Philosophy of Care:
In my doctor-patient relationships, I prioritize empathy, trust, and respect. These values form the foundation of my approach to providing quality healthcare.

Pediatric Inspiration:
My inspiration to specialize in pediatrics arose from a transformative experience in Tanzania, where I worked with pediatric patients facing challenging circumstances. Witnessing their resilience and joy fueled my commitment to contribute to the well-being of children, ensuring they thrive both physically and mentally.

Outside the Clinic:
Outside of my professional endeavors, I cherish moments spent walking on the beach with my husband, daughter, and our dog. Exploring new countries and states, engaging in activities like running, bike riding, kayaking, and indulging in a good book are also among my favorite pastimes.

Personal Touch:
Family is at the heart of my life, with a loving husband, a wonderful daughter, and a cherished dog rounding out our close-knit unit.

Athletic Achievements:
As a former collegiate athlete, I proudly participated in track and cross country at James Madison University. Winning the CAA 1,500 meter race and making the All-Southeast Region team were highlights of my collegiate athletic career. I bring this spirit of determination and achievement into my practice, appreciating the value that sports can impart to individuals.

Mission for Patients and Families:
My mission is to deliver quality, evidence-based care to patients from infancy through adolescence, supporting their mental and physical well-being. Building relationships with patients and families is a privilege, and I am dedicated to providing individualized care tailored to their unique needs.

I look forward to the opportunity to be part of your healthcare journey. Feel free to reach out and schedule an appointment—I'm here to help you and your family thrive!
