Elysia “Dr. E” Ruiz, DMSc, PA-C, is a dedicated Physician Associate with a deep commitment to pediatric care. A proud Tar Heel, she graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Biology, along with a minor in Chemistry and a concentration in Neuroscience. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Physician Associate Studies from the University of Charleston, graduating as Valedictorian, and then completed her clinical Doctorate of Medical Science at Shenandoah University, with a focus on evidence-based practice, health equity, and leadership.
With experience spanning primary care, hospitalist medicine, NICU/PICU, and emergency settings, Dr. E is passionate about preventive care, developmental and behavioral health, and building strong, trusting relationships with families. Her background in EMS strengthened her ability to provide calm, confident care in high-acuity situations. She recently completed a publication on trauma-informed care for LGBTQIA+ youth, reflecting her dedication to creating safe, affirming healthcare environments for all children.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her significant other, beach days, exploring Jacksonville with her German Shepherd, Poppy, and relaxing at home with her rescue cats, Kida and Tink. Dr. E is honored to serve the Angel Kids Pediatrics community with warmth, compassion, and high-quality care.
